VISION:
The Pastor of Spiritual Formation advances the church’s vision by helping the congregation invest in the life-long process of learning to live and love like Jesus. This will be done by leading a cradle to grave approach to discipleship that invites each member of the congregation to grow in faith and use their gifts within the church and throughout their lives.
Specific Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other discipleship area staff to develop and implement a consistent approach to intergenerational discipleship and spiritual formation
- Collaborate with other discipleship area staff to equip and encourage families with tools for spiritual formation in the home
- Focus on youth and young adult ministry
- Work directly with middle and high school youth, and young adults
- Coordinate youth groups and volunteers
- Develop proactive relationships
- Attend student events outside the church space
- Provide unique community building and discipleship experiences such as mission trips and retreats
- Oversee adult discipleship and spiritual formation
- Foster lifelong learning both individually and in community
- Coach, train, care for, and equip small group leaders
- Implement tools for increasing self-awareness and emotional/spiritual maturity
- Develop worship series tie-in study material
- Other Pastoral duties
- Preaching at least six times a year and on such other occasions as needed by the Senior Pastor
- Coordinate with senior pastor to assist in providing pastoral care, crisis response, and wedding and funeral needs of members
- Collaborate with other staff or volunteers on projects as requested by consistory
